F.A.Q. Maintenance Warranty Choosing a Floor
Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Where can I buy Mannington Floors?
A. We purposely sell our floors only through specialty flooring retailers rather than home centers or similar outlets. Flooring is such a big decision—one most of us make only a few times in our lives—and it's a real investment in your home. You want to make sure it's done right. So do we, and so does your Mannington retailer. These professionals are ready to listen to your needs, answer questions, and give you options and advice.

Q. Where can I purchase Mannington cleaning products?
A. Your local Mannington retailer carries our line of cleaning products.

Q. I am redecorating and am looking for a stylish floor, any ideas?
A. Whether you choose a Mannington Resilient Floor with the realistic looks of NatureForm® technology, Mannington Laminate Floor with designs inspired by historic and exotic woods, or a Mannington Wood Floor with beautiful colors and an array of plank widths and edge styles…Mannington truly provides Fresh Ideas In Flooring™.

Q. Can I order directly from Mannington?
A. No. We sell our products to wholesale distributors, who in turn sell to floor covering retail dealers.

F.A.Q.'S Laminate Floors

Q. Are laminate floors easy to clean?
A. Yes. A Mannington Laminate Floor is the closest thing there is to a maintenance free floor. Ordinary vacuuming or sweeping is usually sufficient to keep the floor clean. If needed, an occasional damp mopping with Mannington Award Series® Cleaner is recommended. (Note: Never flood the floor with water.)

Q. What is the difference between Mannington Wood Floors and Mannington Laminate Floors?
A. A wood floor is just that, it is made out of wood. A laminate floor can look like a wood floor, but it is really a picture of a wood floor. To see how a Mannington Laminate floor is constructed click here.

Mannington Wood Floors are engineered with 5-ply construction, laid cross-grain to those above and beneath it, which adds stability to the floor. Our wood floors also have a 7-Step UltraWear™ polyurethane finish, which protects from wear and scuffs.

Mannington Laminate Floors are created using ThermoComposite™ Construction, which fuses five distinct components together in one single step to create an extremely durable floor of the highest quality.

Both are excellent choices in flooring and often the decision between the two depends on the amount of traffic the room gets and your decorative preference or the look you are trying to achieve in the room.

Q. What is iCORE?
A. iCORE, although categorized as a laminate floor, is not the laminate floor you'd expect. iCORE is an entirely new category of flooring.

  • iCORE is an Advanced Composite, an entirely synthetic product, which has a patent pending iNNERCORE construction. The entire product is waterproof.

  • iBEAM construction provides, on average, five times the dent and impact resistance as compared to traditional laminates.

  • iBEAM construction creates sound dampening chambers for a quieter sound.

  • 25-year Residential and 10-year light Commercial warranty for wear, fade, stain and water damage!

Q. Can laminate flooring be installed in a bathroom or laundry room?
A. Mannington provides installation instructions for wet areas such as bathrooms, laundry rooms and utility rooms. Mannington's laminate flooring is warranted against topical moisture resulting from normal household use such as wet shoes, spilled liquids, dripping off while exiting the bathtub or shower. These normal household activities will not harm the flooring.

Q. What type of chair protectors can I use on laminate flooring?
A. Support furniture with wide-bearing, non-staining floor protectors. Ideally, the protectors should be at least one inch in diameter, made of non-pigmented, hard plastic and rest flat on the floor. Non-staining felt protectors are also acceptable. Casters with a minimum 3/4" flat surface width or floor protectors are recommended for all moveable furniture. Make sure any metal protectors are rustproof. Replace your narrow-dome furniture rests with wide-bearing ones.

Q. What type of mat can I place on my laminate floor?
A. Use doormats outside each entrance to your home to prevent dirt, sand, grit and other substances such as oil, asphalt and driveway sealer from being tracked onto your floor. Use non-staining mats on your floor. Do not put rubber-backed, latex-backed or cocofiber mats on your floor as they may stain or damage the surface. Staining can also occur if there is a dye transfer from an object that has been laid on the floor. It is an industry standard that this type of staining is not covered under the warranty, as we cannot control what kinds of objects are laid on our floors. We recommend only placing mats that state "non-staining" on the tag.

Q. How well do Mannington laminate floors perform?
A. Our NatureForm Plank Collection has a surface embossing that creates impressive realism, variety of wood grains that suits any décor, random-width patterns create a rustic effect, carefree maintenance, and a high-wear overlay that ensure years of enjoyment. This floor comes with a 20 year warranty.

Our Historic, Exotic, and Traditional Collections offer a magnificent historic wood species that replicate historic looks, exotic wood patterns that offer exceptional beauty of rare species, care free maintenance, and exceptional durability that protects floors from high traffic. This floor has a 15 year warranty.

Our iCORE Advanced Composite Flooring has a micro-bevel edge that provides revolutionary depth and dimension, has a waterproof synthetic core, outstanding abrasion resistance that protects appearance, and carefree maintenance. This floor comes with a 25 year warranty.

Q. What exactly does "fine scratches" mean?
A. The fine scratching that occurs in the main traffic areas of a floor over time.

Q. How does ScratchResist™ protect hardwood floors?
A. ScratchResist™ is an ultrafine particulate of aluminum oxide that fills in around the much larger particle of alox that is already in the finish.

Q. How does ScratchResist™ protect resilient floors?
A. On selected patterns, our urethane wearlayer is enhanced with aluminum oxide to create a ScratchResist finish. ScratchResist helps your floor to look new longer by resisting everyday household scratches.

Q. Can traditional screen and recoat methods for hardwood be used with ScratchResist™ products?
A. Yes. Both traditional screen and recoat as well as chemical systems work.

Q. Does ScratchResist™ alter the clarity of the finish?
A. No. There is no loss of clarity in the finish.
