ProFloor

PREPARING THE BACKING SURFACE :

Any difference in level of more than 5 mm over a length of 2 m should be evened out.

The flatter the backing surface, the better. After the surface has been levelled, you should wait one or two weeks for it to dry out completely, before laying PROFLOOR.

To prevent moisture rising, you should put down a high-density, 0.2 mm polyethylene sheet underlay over all the backing surface except when the backing surface is covered with wood-fibre covers or wood parquet flooring. Allow the sheets to overlap by 20 cm.
Allow at least 5 cm extra at the walls, cut the angles and fold them over.

The sheets should be attached to the backing surface with adhesive tape. Leave expansion gaps (8 mm minimum) in doorways and cover them with sill bars.
When the surface area of the room is over 50m² or with a length of over 8 m, the surface should be split up into several parts, using one or more expansion gaps (10 mm minimum) that you can mask with sill bars.

LAYING PROFLOOR :

PROFLOOR is designed to be loose-laid

1) Check the squareness and alignment of the walls, using a set-square and a length of string. If the walls are not straight along the bottom, make a test by laying the two first rows (without glue). If the squareness and alignment are OK, you can lay the flooring, using glue.

2) Lay the first sheet at one of the corners of the room with the groove side facing the skirting. Put spacers between the skirting and PROFLOOR every 75 mm or so to obtain a 10 mm expansion gap between PROFLOOR and the wall skirting

3) Slot in the final sheet of the first row, cutting it to size as needed. Use the cut-off (providing it measures at least 30 cm) to make sure that the sheets in each row are staggered by at least 30 cm. Once the first two rows have been laid, check the squareness and alignment again

4) Apply PROGLU white glue (PVAC type, classified D3 by DIN EN 204) evenly and continuously along the grooves, both lengthways and widthways. Use enough glue to give a continuous, even layer – avoid spot gluing. Leave the three first rows to dry for 45 minutes to give yourself a solid base.

5) Wipe off any excess glue using a flexible plastic spatula or a slightly damp cloth, that should be rinsed out regularly.

6) The PROFLOOR guarantee recommends using tensors to fit the sheets together tightly. You should use at least three tensors for the first 2 linear metres. The tensors should then be used to fit each row snugly into place.

7) When you reach the final row, place a loose sheet precisely upon the last sheet laid. Place another sheet on top , but with its edge along the skirting, leaving a gap of 8 mm. Trace a cutting line along the sheet in the middle and saw it along the line.

8) Slot the sawn parts in using the taping bar supplied in the laying kit. Fit the spacers in between the wall and the final row to keep the 8mm expansion gap.

9) To fit the flooring around obstacles such as heating pipes, you should first use a pencil to trace out the section you need to drill. Drill a hole (or several if there are several pipes) about 8mm larger than the pipe diameter. Cut the sheet in two through the middle of the drilled out section so that you can subsequently fit the sheet around the pipe(s). If the pipe is along the length of a sheet, it’s best to make a diagonal cut. A straight cut can be made if the pipe is along the width.

10) Leave the flooring to dry for at least 24 hours, without removing the spacers and tensors, before walking on it.

FINISHING :

1) After 24 hours, remove the spacers and tensors.

2) Place the 5 cm overlap of the polyethylene sheet underlay up against the wall. Use skirting or quadrant moldings to hide the overlap and the wall expansion gap. Fix the skirting to the walls, without gluing to the floor.

3) Fit the upper part of the sill bars to hide the expansion gaps.

4) If you have any sheets left over, you can keep them for several years by placing them flat in a damp-free room.

UPKEEP :

The manufacturer recommends cleaning PROFLOOR using a dry cloth or with a cloth using a small amount of highly diluted cleaning product. Acetone can be used to wipe off more obstinate marks.

ProFloor Dolphy

PREPARING THE BACKING SURFACE :

Any difference in level of more than 5 mm over a length of 2 m should be evened out.

To prevent moisture rising, it is extremely important to put down a polyethylene sheet underlay over all the backing surface, along with a foam or foam/plastic film complex underlay. Allow the sheets to overlap by 20 cm. Allow at least 5 cm extra at the walls, cut the angles and fold them over. The sheets should be attached to the backing surface with adhesive tape

Put expansion joints (8 mm minimum) in doorways, and cover them with sill bars.
Before starting to lay DOLFY, you should fit the lower part of the sill bars.
When the surface area of the room is over 50m² or with a length of over 8 m, the surface should be split up into several parts, using one or more expansion gaps (5-8 mm minimum) that you can mask with sill bars.

LAYING :

1) Check the squareness and alignment of the walls, using a set-square and a length of string. If the walls are not straight along the bottom, make a test by laying the two first rows (without glue). If the squareness and alignment are OK, you can lay the flooring, using glue.

2) Lay the first sheet at one of the corners of the room with the groove side facing the skirting. Put spacers between the skirting and DOLFY every 75 mm or so to obtain a 5-8 mm expansion gap between DOLFY and the wall skirting.

3) Slot in the final sheet of the first row, cutting it to size as needed. Use the cut-off (providing it measures at least 30 cm) to make sure that the sheets in each row are staggered by at least 30 cm. You can now start on the second row.

4) Once the first two rows have been laid, check the wall alignment and squareness again.

5) Apply PROGLU PLUS glue evenly and continuously along the grooves, both lengthways and widthways. Use enough glue to give a continuous, even layer – avoid spot gluing. Leave the three first rows to dry for 30 minutes to give yourself a solid base.

6) Don’t remove excess glue immediately, leave it to harden first.

7) The PROFLOOR guarantee recommends using tensors to fit the sheets together tightly. You should use at least three tensors for the first 2 metres. The tensors should then be used every 1.3 metres to fit the rows snugly into place.

8) When you reach the final row, place a loose sheet precisely upon the last sheet laid. Place another sheet on top, but with its edge along the skirting, leaving a gap of 8 mm. Trace a cutting line along the previous sheet and saw it along the line.

9) Apply glue to the sawn parts and slot them in using the taping bar supplied in the laying kit. Fit spacers in between the wall and the final row to keep the 8mm expansion gap.

10) To fit the flooring around obstacles such as heating pipes, you should first use a pencil to trace out the section you need to drill.

11) Leave the flooring to dry for at least 3 hours, without removing the spacers and tensors, before walking on it or putting the furniture back.

FINISHING :

1) Once the flooring has dried, remove the spacers and tensors

2) Fold the polyethylene film overlap along the sill bars and then squeeze out a continuos layer of silicon sealant along the bottom of the      DOLFY sheets to prevent water vapour infiltrating between the underlays and the DOLFY sheets.

3) Wipe of any excess glue using a plastic spatula.

4) Squeeze transparent silicone sealant into any expansion gaps that are not covered by the skirting or sill bars. Before the silicon dries, use colour-fill to match the flooring colour

UPKEEP :

The manufacturer recommends cleaning PROFLOOR using a dry cloth or with a cloth using a small amount of highly diluted cleaning product. Acetone can be used to wipe off more obstinate marks.
